Now we began to work on the next decal set for AMI Tornados. The set will feature options for both sand and gray-green camouflaged jets.
We would like to ask some help with gray-green ones.
We know that old hi-viz roundel began to be replaced with new one in about 1991. New roundel was reduced in diameter and the white ring was significantly narrowed. And now all Tornados bear the new lo-viz roundels. But we aren't sure about colours. While looking at photos, it seems as if the bright colours of, say, 1991 were tone-downed during two decades and now look darker and more dull. Can somebody tell us if the small roundels of 1991 had the very same red and green as in our days?
Another question about walkways stripes on upper surfaces. They definately exist nowadays on the all-gray jets. And they did exist on the early gray-green jets which wore large roundels and large white tactical numbers on the noses. But we can't find any walkways on the gray-green jets with new lo-viz numbers and small roundels behind the wings. Is it possible that they were removed to reduce visibility? Or they just "disappeared" because of the sun and weather?
And one more request. Are there someone who have photos (especially walkarounds) of yellow and gray-green jets in personal archives? We would be grateful for opportunity of seeing these photos. They won't be used any other way than just studying - no publishing, no repost etc.
Thanks in advance,
Yury
PS: Can someone translate this into Italian please?
