The EC145 is a medium twin-engine helicopter that was developed jointly by Eurocopter and the Japanese firm Kawasaki Heavy Industries. In addition to use for air rescue flights, the EC145 is also used by the German Police for surveillance and transport purposes. Equipped with the latest technology, the EC145 helicopters of the Hesse police helicopter unit are primarily used for air search and tracking, rescue and salvage operations. The French Gendarmerie also uses this type of helicopter in large numbers.
