In this Guide to explain briefly, with many pictures and video, how to make a reproduction of a thumbnail with the rubber and resin. The result will depend on the experience and the steps that you take, but do not despair because you can make additions or improvements thereafter.
Materials Needed:
- Silicone rubber GLS-50 Prochima + Catalyst (I used the pack of 500 grams (of course using one hand: about 100 grams)) For the figure of € 24.50
- Resin + Catalyst Sintafoam 1.1 (A 250g + 250g B) To € 12.50
- Various containers such as cups or paper cups graduated
- Syringes (I have used 3 for not mixing the components and the risk of damage)
- Cutter (or better yet Bisturi)
- Latex gloves so as not to come into contact with substances that are harmful
- Template
- Wearing work (it is better not to play with chemicals, the precautions are never too many)
- Libra
- Patience and Time
- Last but not least, the thumbnail sacrificial to play. (In reality it is not nothing happened even the colors have remained intact and then go quiet). (NB I do not take any responsibility for your thumbnails).
This is like the bottom is the rubber in its original container.
This is the miniature lies in the bottom of a paper cup that will be the container for casting.
The rubber and its catalyst.
As you can see in the videos the catalyst is used to 5%. This means that you must weigh the amount of rubber to be used multiplied by 5 and divide by 100. So you get the grams of catalyst needed for the amount of rubber that you need. Remember that being the catalyst similar to water, 1 kg = 1L = 1dm cube then 1ml = 1cc. Example, the rubber that I used, I weighed about 105 grams, by multiplying by 5 and dividing by 100 = 5.25 which is the amount of cc of catalyst required for the rubber.
How to see in the videos I had serious difficulties to take the various catalysts or resins with normal syringes. Then use syringes with needles larger.

Here's what the rubber with the catalyst prepared to be paid.

Bhè you're done .... then you will need only wait 24 to 48 hours (I expect I 48).
As you can see the bubbles are always lurking and it is therefore necessary to give the small barrels in the first few minutes to try to move and make them go back.
After 48 hours ...
Start the difference ..
Once pulled out the "pudding" you must proceed very carefully with the aid of a cutter (or a scalpel).
Be careful not to damage the thumbnail and not to tear the rubber! if the cut combacerà perfectly, if the tear ... ..

And here is done! the hard work is done: the miniature animal is safely and is ready to spampo resin!
Many of you probably wonder why has not used the method of the valve. There is no real reason, perhaps the time. However I have used a method that is used to playing in pressure of gioglielli. Gum as you can see from this photo was cropped so as to open the rubber split into two without valve. This ensures a perfect fit and less chance of leakage of resin.
Here is one of the steps (after I added more). You'll have to create a small gutter to vent to the air (air bubbles evil!).
And the Sintafoam resin and its catalyst to be used in equal parts. I calculated the size of my thumbnail about 2cc then I took 1cc of 1cc of resin and catalyst. I mixed them in a little glass for about 20 seconds and I poured everything into the mold. BEWARE the mold I kept closed with a glass cut to hold the valve together.

Already after a few minutes will see the reaction due to the change in color of the resin.
After high about 40 minutes ... ... Your thumbnail will be ready! will need only to take it out!

You'll notice the imperfections ... .. unfortunately due to my inexperience and evil bubbles!
But nothing lost! in the subsequent casting of the tests done just by adding more channels for venting of air into the most difficult.
As mentioned at the beginning of the guide: everything will depend dall'esperieza and measures taken. However, even if my little goblin does not have arms (evil bubbles!) Satisfies and improve overall performance by adding more channels to vent!
I hope to be helpful! to the next!
Simmons!

Hello! your guide made me as well but unfortunately many photos "are not currently available" and many video "no longer available", so say the error messages.
E 'possible to update or reloaded? cmq complimenti both for his excellent work in every case!
Thank you!
to solve the problem then I did a more detailed guide is divided into two parts. can be found at this address:
